After being displeased with their long standing development vendor, Express Scripts needed to publish their 400 page 2005 Drug Trend Report for the first time in electronic format. Although they knew it was to be distributed on a CD, they did not know where to start. Express Scripts had some heavy requirements: the CD needed to auto play on any computer (MAC or PC) and it needed to contain 400 pages of fully printable and searchable text, while still loading in mere seconds. And they needed it in three weeks.

Given Express Scripts’ needs, CDKWeb expanded upon them to present a functional solution that exceeded all of their requirements. Ecstatic with the idea of making their close deadline, Express Scripts requested that CDKWeb build this fully customized application that was estimated to take seven weeks in only three.

CDKWeb built the application with enough time to spare to still salvage four full days of testing. This included the custom search algorithms and the ability to print chapters, sub-chapters, current page, page ranges and even the entire report. Over 400 custom images were created for the entire report.

Knowing that this report was considered an industry standard, CDKWeb knew it was also a must to put the report on the Express Scripts website, yet the file was over 16 MB. As a result, CDKWeb built a second optimized version of the application to be downloaded quickly across the web.

Express Scripts successfully met their deadline and distributed the 1,000 CDs at a national conference resulting in an extremely successful application launch. It was the centerpiece of their presentation and was met to stellar reviews. CDKWeb again rose to the challenge and Express Scripts also ordered another run of 6,000 CDs. All in all, although the task was overwhelming for Express Scripts at first glance, they were very pleased with the project upon its completion.
